A cover letter that accompanies the resume is the first
piece of written correspondence that the reviewer reads. The purpose of the
cover letter is to
provide clues about your personality that a
resume may not be able to convey. A cover letter is
also a sales pitch for a potential
interviewer. We have provided some of the points to ponder while
composing a cover letter. |
|
The job
requirements: If you know the job requirements, think about how you can
express in the cover letter your suitability for the job.
The
company: Through the cover letter, express some of the reasons why you
want to work for the company where you are applying. Convey how the company's
culture and philosophy might match your career goals.
Your
experience: Show how your experience will be useful for the company and
the specific job description.
Intangible skills: Document those skills that are
mandatory for the specific job profile but may never be described in the job
requirements.
Once you have addressed these
four issues, remember that the cover letter has to be brief and
professional.
