Summary: The client, a startup internet e-commerce company wanted to use the World Wide Web to offer thousands of brandname products from different online retailers to international customers. The online store would allow to consolidate the buying experience from multiple online retailers to a single transaction with guaranteed shipping and handling charges including customs duty and taxes as applicable to the respective country.The site would also allow the customers to review in-depth product information online, interact with customer service representatives by phone or e-mail. They also wanted a fulfillment module that would allow their fulfillment agents to buy the products from other retailers for the customer. To realize this vision, the company needed a powerful, flexible, and scalable Internet solution and a platform that could be managed and maintained easily and cost effectively.

Business Objectives:

ť	Create an online store that enables shopping from multiple online retailers. The site should be secure and easy to navigate.
ť	Create an order management system that will enable the fulfillment agents to place orders at other online retailers and track them efficiently.
ť	Create an XML based interface with the couriers to consolidate the packages to a single destination and track the shipment.

Solution:

DCR designed and developed a scalable, flexible and reliable internet solution that enabled the customers of the store to have a wonderful shopping experience. The order management system was designed to facilitate placement of orders using an order queue. The admin interface allowed to track the efficiency of the fulfillment agent by tracking the number of orders they placed in a day. The interface with the courier company was designed to interact with their existing system. It also provided them with a web based tool to track the retailer specific shipments for accounting purposes.
