Insurance
Deregulation is redefining who can offer insurance. Insurers, banks, and securities brokers are now free to merge and cross-sell each others' products. Continuing the trend that essentially began 30 years ago, insurance companies are responding to global competition and the need for cost efficiency by forming strategic alliances, merging into conglomerates, and buying smaller companies. This trend is doing away with the independent agencies that used to define the industry. Consolidation also means that companies will offer a full range of insurance products instead of specializing in certain realms such as property or casualty. The industry is presently engulfed by Internet mania. The Internet promises to cut costs in a competitive market, provide a new way for consumers to compare quotes and choose policies, and make for a more convenient service, the ideal customer-friendly combination. Insurance Companies will have to seek tech-savvy IT Companies who can support the move to e-commerce.

DCR Case Study
Summary:
The client, a fortune 500 insurance company's IT department wanted to effectively manage the application updates to its legacy system due to changes in regulations and new business requirements. A number of application development teams were working on the same application for different business requirements. To accomplish this goal, the company needed a effective release management strategy and a tool to analyse the dependencies between applications.
Business Objectives:
»
Outline a software release methodology to effectively manage software releases.
»
Create a Release management system that will help the developers analyse the dependencies between the applications.
»
Create Management reports for statistical analysis of changes in a release thereby distribute the workload more efficiently.
Solution:
DCR did a thorough analysis of the situation and came up with a release management plan acceptable to both the customers and the release managers. The Release and Inventory Management System (RIMS) was designed and developed on the mainframe using DB2 as the backend that enabled the developers and release managers to effectively manage software releases.
Benefits:
The solution was cost effective and a secure way for the agency to meet its goals. The solution was so flexible that they later extended it to over 100 nurses when the agency was bought out by a competitor.
Solution Delivery:
DCR provides complete end-to-end E-Business solutions to clients by building the various e-business applications and the components required therein.
